Amir Abdul Reda is an Assistant Professor in Political Science at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P in Rabat, Morocco). Previously, he was a Research Fellow at the World Bank’s Twitter MENA Lab, and a Young Fellow in the Forced Displacement program of the World Bank/UNHCR. He obtained his PhD from the University of Toronto. Thomas Richter is Lead Research Fellow at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies (GIGA in Hamburg, Germany) and head of GIGA's research program "accountability and participation". He holds a M.A. from the University of Tübingen and a Ph.D. from the University of Bremen, both in Political Science. His research has been published in journals like the British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, Energy Research & Social Science, Global Policy, and Democratization. Thomas is the co-editor of “Oil and the political economy in the Middle East”, a volume with Manchester University Press, which is the first comprehensive analysis in response to the 2014 oil price decline. |

Moritz Schmoll is an Assistant Professor in Political Science at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P in Rabat, Morocco). He holds an MSc in Comparative Politics from Sciences Po Paris and obtained his PhD in Political Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science’s (LSE) Department of Government. Prior to joining UM6P, he was an LSE Fellow at the LSE’s Department of International Development. His doctoral dissertation focused on weak enforcement of tax laws in Egypt and his broader research interests include the politics of everyday governance, the political economy of development, as well as violence and conflict, with a particular regional focus on the MENA region. His work has been published in the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Journal of Development Studies, and Progress in Development Studies. |
